Monster Energy AMA Motocross - Round 2 of the 2013 AMA Motocross at Thunder Valley, Colorado. High altitude for round 2 which means a test of rider fitness and bike horsepower. Both Ryan Villopoto and Ken Roczen were dominant at round 1 and everyone is keen to see if they will do the same or other riders will step up and challenge up front. 250 Moto 1 - Zach Osborne is back in the states after racing the GP series in Europe and grabs the holeshot on his Geico Honda. Ken Roczen quickly passes for the lead and Eli Tomac comes along with him. Instead of checking out, Roczen has Tomac on his rear wheel and with him threatening to pass on the last lap, Tomac slides out and Roczen takes the checkers. 250 Moto 2 - Martin gets the holeshot ahead of Osborne, but Osborne, Tomac and Roczen quickly gets past. Tomac takes the lead and checks out. 450 Moto 1 - Justin Barcia gets the holeshot from Ryan Dungey and Ryan Villopoto. Dungey gets by Barcia and so does Villopoto. Villopoto challenges Dungey and gets by on the inside of a downhill. Villopoto takes an easy win from Dungey and Barcia. Stewart ran into Weimer in the race and had trouble getting his bike started finishing fifteenth. 450 Moto 2 - Barcia grabs another holeshot and drags his team mate Canard along with him. Villopoto, Dungey and Stewart are right behind them. The Honda boys go backwards while the big three of Villopoto, Dungey and Stewart head up the front. Reed has some type of bacterial infection that is affecting his performance. Lets hope it's not a repeat of the illness that had him cancel his kawasaki contract in 2010. Clement Desalle and Kevin Strijbos came via their GP race in Brazil to finish inside the top ten at Thunder Valley. Aussie Jackson Richardson is consistantly finishing inside the top 20 in the 250 class. |
